PRESS RELEASE:
Expanding Camp Laurel’s Mission to Create an AIDS-Free World
February 3, 2025

At The Laurel Foundation, we are committed to evolving and expanding our impact to meet the needs of vulnerable youth. As part of our dedication to supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS, we are excited to announce a new mission for Camp Laurel—one that broadens our reach and strengthens our role in creating an AIDS-free world.
Our expanded vision focuses on including young key populations—those at high risk of HIV—ensuring they have access to HIV education, support, and empowerment to help them thrive. Camp Laurel will not only provide a safe and nurturing environment but also equip campers with educational resources and tools they can share with their peers on HIV prevention. By fostering leadership and awareness, we empower youth to become advocates in their communities, spreading knowledge and excitement about how to build a future free of AIDS.
This year’s Camp Laurel Teen Adventure Camp will not only provide HIV prevention education, but continue to provide crucial sessions on career building, higher education, financial literacy, and goal setting, giving youth the knowledge and resources to plan for a future filled with hope and opportunity. These life skills programs help empower the youth to take control of their futures, fostering independence and long-term success.
Through adventure, education, and community, Camp Laurel is more than a camp—it’s a movement toward hope, resilience, and an AIDS-free world. Together, we will continue to empower the next generation with the tools they need to live healthy, fulfilled lives and become catalysts for change in their communities.
