Camp Mulberry

Camp Programs

  • Summer Camp 2022: August 8-13, 2022

We are continuously monitoring the situation with COVID-19 and are adapting our policies in accordance with the American Camp Association and local/federal guidelines. We ask that parents and campers remain flexible as we make adjustments to our policies. Currently, campers can expect to remain in cabin groups of 6-8 campers and 2 counselors during all activities. Counselors and campers 12+ are required to be vaccinated in order to volunteer and attend Camp Mulberry. Additionally, we will need parents to drive youth to camp as buses are not a safe option at the moment. Thanks to generous donors, we will have hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, and masks readily available for campers and counselors. Please reach out to our Elias Naranjo with any questions regarding COVID-safety at Camp Mulberry.

The Laurel Foundation’s Camp Mulberry is the nation’s first cost-free resident camp program specifically for transgender and gender diverse youth, ages 6-17. This camp is an amazing experience for youth looking for a safe space to be their most authentic selves, create a life-long peer support group, and enjoy traditional outdoor camp experiences – such as kayaking, rock climbing, archery, and more! Our volunteer counselors are fully vetted and trained transgender/gender diverse adults who will serve as mentors for our youth. We will also have social workers and registered nurses present at camp. Campers are placed in cabin groups based on gender identity and age. Summer Camp will be a week-long, residential experience in Southern California. Youth from around the country are invited to attend! Camp Health Management

Campers are required to have a physical within a year from August 8 as well as up to date vaccinations.

Please reach out to or Elias Naranjo for more information.

  • 2022 Virtual Programs

The Laurel Foundation will host special virtual programs to keep our Camp Mulberry community connected during the COVID-19 pandemic. These programs include a private Minecraft server, a private Discord channel, family game nights, art projects, and more. Please reach out to our Elias Naranjo if your child is interested in participating.

Day Programs

  • We will hold in-person events safely and with any necessary modifications. Please contact our Elias Naranjo to RSVP.

Last year we had a very successful back to school event where we distributed backpacks to 50 campers and their families! We provided backpacks to youth in Los Angeles and San Diego. Families in San Diego picked up their backpacks at Christie’s Place, one of our community partners who provide services to women, children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS. We are thankful to our donors Brian Stark, Nike, and others that provided backpacks and school supplies for our families.

Join us for a SPOOKY good time on the night of Halloween eve where there will be games, candy, and surprises lurking around…We had a wonderful time last year with our spooky Jamboree Drive-thru experience and would love for you all to join us again. For more information on this event contact our Elias Naranjo or call 626-683-0800 .

Our annual Holiday Party is a beloved tradition where families can get together to enjoy holiday crafts and activities, play games and win prizes, and receive gifts for the children in their family. Last years, events was a big hit and all the safety protocols were taken into place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff and families. For more information on this event reach out to our Elias Naranjo.
